Industry Engagement

The advisory board for the Queensland Geothermal Energy Centre of Excellence includes two representatives from the geothermal industry, two from the State Government, and two from The University of Queensland. There are also separate technical advisory committees for each research program. These committees meet regularly and monitor the centre progress in their areas of expertise. Additional engagement with the industry and other stakeholders is achieved through the annual Queensland Geothermal Workshops organised by the centre and the annual Australian Geothermal Energy Conferences.

The past projects with the industry are:
  • Birdsville Geothermal Power Plant Expansion (Ergon Energy)
  • Next-generation Power Cycles and Equipment R&D for Low-Temperature Resources (Verdicorp)
Current projects with industry participation
  • Feasibility study on converting Collinsville Coal-Fired Power Station to a Renewable Power Generator (RATCH Australia with ARENA funding)
  • Developing proposals for assessing the suitability of Galilee Basin, Queensland, for a geothermal power plant  using the CO2 geothermal siphon concept (GHD)
  • Feasibility study and assessment the geothermal potential for Winton, Queensland (Local Government Infrastructure Services)
  • Air-cooled heat exchanger analysis and modelling fro Daandine and Tipton (Arrow Energy and UQ Centre for Coal Seam Gas)
